On Sunday, August 16, Total Physical Therapy and Strength Surge will bring together athletes and fitness enthusiasts from across Long Island for a unique hands-on learning experience focused on the foundations of powerlifting and strength training.

This clinic is about much more than lifting heavier weights. It’s about understanding proper movement mechanics, reducing your risk of injury, improving performance, and developing the confidence to train safely for years to come.

What You'll Learn

Powerlifting is built around three foundational movements:

  • Squat
  • Bench Press
  • Deadlift

When performed correctly, these exercises can help athletes and active adults build strength, improve athletic performance, increase confidence, and enhance overall fitness. When performed incorrectly, they can increase the risk of injury and limit progress.

During this clinic, participants will receive expert instruction on:

  • Proper lifting technique
  • Safe movement patterns

  • Warm-up and mobility recommendations
  • Strength training principles
  • Performance development techniques
  • Common lifting mistakes and how to correct them

Participants will also receive hands-on coaching to reinforce what they learn and immediately apply it to their own training.

Strength Surge

The clinic will be led by Strength Surge founders Kendra Brooks and Max Sapuppo.

Kendra and Max are experienced strength coaches, competitive powerlifters, and educators who have helped athletes of all ages and skill levels improve their performance through proper training methods and movement mechanics.

Their coaching philosophy centers around teaching athletes how to train safely, build strength efficiently, and develop confidence under the barbell. Whether you are new to strength training or have years of lifting experience, their practical and approachable coaching style makes advanced concepts easy to understand and apply.
